6 Examples of Great Facebook Ads

It goes without saying that people of all ages are signing into Facebook on a daily basis. More than 1.39 billion Facebook users are actively visiting Facebook on a monthly basis and as of May 2013, 4.8 billion likes were generated daily. While these numbers still continue to grow year after year, businesses, especially startups, are having a harder time reaching their target audience organically. Since Facebook launched new ways to optimize your advertisements to Facebook users, I’ve seen many examples of Facebook Ads targeted towards me. Here are 6 Examples of Great Facebook Ads and why they are effective:

1.) The Photo Ad

Depending on the formatting of an advertisement on Facebook, the News Feed ad usually gets more traction than the Right Column ads. In the example above, I was being retargeted after viewing some frames on the Zenni Optical website. The exact pair I looked at is pictured in the ad and the details in the ad are enough to catch my attention. The key components of a great ad includes an image, price, value proposition, and a call-to-action. Zenni Optical hit all these points.

2.) The Video Ad

With video being the most popular content to watch on Facebook, it’s even more effective to have an video ad on a News Feed. Stats show that more than 1 billion videos are viewed daily and on average, 50% of Facebook users view at least one video per day.  The Zenni Optical video ad is enticing because it provides a neat visual of a variety of frames, it’s relevant to the season and the day of the week, and it encourages me to play the video and make a decision on a frame.

3.) The Multi-Product Ad

The Multi-product ad is just as enticing as a photo on a News Feed but with 10 times more to see. It’s a great way to promote multiple products, blog posts, or anything really. Another reason why the Multi-product ad works is that it allows an advertiser to showcase more than one product and image at once to appeal to more than just one demographic. 4.) The Offer Ad

The Offer ads are great for getting customers to get on your website or in your store. In the Jasper’s Market example, it states the $10 off offer and allows me to simply click on the call-to-action button to receive my offer. This ad is one of the most effective ways to catch a new customer’s attention on Facebook.

 5.) Retargeting Ad

After visiting the HubSpot website a few times and subscribing to their emails I began to see their ads in my News Feed like the one below. The retargeting ad is great for advertisers who use Power Editor on Facebook by simply customizing the audience from a list of leads or customer emails you already have. Plus, it’s nice to see who has already expressed some interest in your ads by offering free downloads or trials to expand your database like HubSpot has in this ad.

 6.) Boosted Post

The most organic ad of them all is the Boosted Post, which was originally posted on the company’s homepage and then boosted with advertising dollars. This ad doesn’t have to be created in ads manager and can include links and a no limit word count. The ad below was also boosted and displayed on my News Feed because a few of my friends liked it. It’s an added bonus to see the social proof and be able to like their Facebook page without leaving my page.
